OVERVIEW

MEMBRANES INSTEAD OF CLARIFIERS

Membrane bioreactors combine the activated sludge process with submerged membrane filtration. The secondary settling tanks are replaced by membrane units, giving complete solids removal, strong bacteria removal and high organic removal in a small footprint.

We prefer the submerged configuration, because it uses less energy and has a low fouling potential. Anoxic zones can be added for denitrification, depending on your nitrate and total nitrogen limits.

TYPICAL USES

- Municipal wastewater

- Schools and healthcare facilities

- Hotels, camps, parks and military bases

- Offices, shopping centers and small townships

- Industrial wastewater, e.g. food and beverage

HOW IT WORKS

INSIDE AN MBR PLANT

Bacteria break down the pollution in the aeration tank. Instead of a clarifier, submerged membranes draw clean water through the fibers under vacuum, while the sludge stays behind.

KEY FEATURES

WHY CHOOSE OUR MBR SYSTEMS

SMALL FOOTPRINT

No secondary clarifiers or tertiary filters needed.

UF-QUALITY EFFLUENT

Ready for reuse, or as high-quality RO feed water.

RELIABLE SEPARATION

Doesn't depend on sludge settling, ideal for remote operation.

LOW SLUDGE PRODUCTION

A long sludge age means less sludge to handle.

ENERGY-EFFICIENT DESIGN

Central aeration and a single header reduce energy and clogging.

PRE-ENGINEERED AND EXPANDABLE

Standard packages, fast delivery, easy to expand.
