Securing Clean Water for Casablanca
Raw Water Specification
-
Raw Water Source: Sea water with inlet TDS 46,800ppm & TDS 37,000ppm.

-
Request is: Treating seawater into drinking water for different areas with mobile units.
Casablanca, Morocco's largest city, is grappling with a growing water crisis driven by rapid population growth and the lack of new freshwater sources. Factors such as climate change, inefficient water management, and significant water loss due to outdated infrastructure have further strained the city's water supply.

In response, the government and local authorities have implemented measures to enhance water conservation, upgrade distribution and treatment infrastructure, and explore alternative sources like desalination and wastewater reuse. However, the increasing demand necessitates more innovative and flexible solutions.

AQUALINE’s Response:
To address the urgent need for clean drinking water, AQUALINE has proposed the development of a mobile water treatment unit tailored to Casablanca’s unique challenges. After a detailed assessment of regional water requirements, the project moved into the design phase, focusing on solutions that accommodate seawater with high conductivity.

Core Technologies:
-
Pre-Treatment System: Equipped with sand filters to remove suspended particles, ensuring effective pre-conditioning of the feed water.
-
Reverse Osmosis (RO) Treatment: Uses membrane technology to desalinate seawater, producing potable water that meets stringent drinking standards.
-
Energy Efficiency: Incorporates an energy recovery system to reduce the electricity costs associated with desalination.

By implementing this versatile and efficient solution, AQUALINE aims to support Casablanca’s water security, providing a reliable and sustainable source of drinking water to the region's growing population.
Aqualine was responsible for the design, supply, install, testing and commission on the river water treatment package.

We’ll highlight a few of the technical particularities of this project:

-
Reduced TDS value from 46,800-37,000ppm to <200ppm
-
Low Operation Power
-
Establish a potable water supply.
-
Container system utilized to optimize space for processing equipment.
-
Fully automated system with remote control capabilities through phone apps.
