Flowing through Central Africa, this river is one of the continent’s longest, playing a vital role in the lives of those along its banks. It supports agriculture, fishing, and transportation, forming the backbone of the local community.

In one village, home to 734,350 residents, the river is the sole water source. Despite this proximity, the community has faced severe water scarcity, as the taps have remained dry for over five years. Many households lack access to potable water, forcing families—especially children—to fetch water daily at a cost.

Compounding the crisis, the river is experiencing turbidity caused by a high level of impurities and industrial waste. As the region’s primary outlet, the river has become a dumping ground for surrounding factories, which discharge their waste into the water, further compromising its quality.

In response to this challenge, AQUALINE will build a river water treatment plant to restore clean, safe water to the community. This initiative aims to improve water quality, reduce health risks, and support sustainable development for the residents.
