Compact Seawater Treatment System for a Cargo Vessel – Lebanon

Project Overview

  • Type: Water Treatment System

  • Raw Water: Seawater

  • Application: Drinking Water & General Use

  • Capacity: 24 CMD

  • Scope of Work: Design, Manufacture & Supply

  • Location: Lebanon

  • Sector: Private - Cargo Vessel

  • Project Status : Finished

1- Project Details

AQUALINE Water Technology was commissioned to design and supply a customized seawater treatment solution for a commercial cargo vessel operating from Lebanon. The objective was to generate potable water and utility water directly from seawater while the vessel was in operation—minimizing dependency on land-based supplies. The system needed to meet marine-grade standards while offering compactness, durability, and efficiency during long voyages.

2- Customer Need

The client needed a system that could operate autonomously on board, fit within tight spatial constraints, and deliver consistent water quality to meet the daily needs of the crew for drinking, cooking, and general use without adding operational burden or maintenance complexity.

3- Challenge

The project presented multiple challenges, starting with the limited physical space available for installation. The system had to be housed in a tight area adjacent to the vessel’s discharge points, requiring extreme precision in design and layout. Additionally, the high salinity of the seawater demanded a robust and efficient treatment process that could operate reliably in harsh marine conditions with minimal maintenance.

4- Impact & Environmental Effect

The installation of the AQUALINE system significantly enhanced the vessel’s autonomy and operational efficiency. The crew now has direct access to clean, safe drinking water at sea, eliminating the need to transport or store bottled water. This not only reduced costs but also freed up valuable storage space and simplified voyage planning.

5- Performance

Since installation, the system has consistently delivered 24 CMD of high-quality treated water, supporting both drinking needs and general onboard usage. It operates with minimal intervention, and its components have shown strong durability under continuous marine exposure. The project stands as a model of smart, space-conscious engineering for maritime applications.
