CONTAINERIZED SEAWATER TREATMENT SYSTEM

1,000 CMD

Libya

Decentralized Seawater Desalination for Healthcare Facilities

Project Overview

  • Type: Water Treatment System

  • Raw Water: Seawater

  • Application: Drinking Water

  • Capacity: 1000 CMD

  • Scope of Work: Design, Manufacture & Supply

  • Location: Libya

  • Sector: Government

  • Project Status : Finished

1- Project Details

AQUALINE Water Technology was selected to deliver five containerized SWRO systems, each with a capacity of 200 CMD, for a total daily output of 1,000 CMD. The systems were supplied to the Ministry of Health in Libya, with the objective of distributing the units across various healthcare centers and clinics located in coastal areas with limited or no access to safe drinking water.

2- Customer Need

The Ministry of Health required a reliable and quickly deployable solution to provide clean drinking water for several health centers situated in coastal areas where water resources were either saline or insufficient. Traditional infrastructure projects were not feasible within the required timeframe, making modular, containerized systems the ideal option. The solution needed to ensure potable water quality, operate in harsh environmental conditions, and require minimal civil work or operational complexity.

3- Challenge

The project required the treatment of high-salinity seawater and the delivery of five independent SWRO systems to be installed in diverse healthcare sites. The systems had to be designed for continuous operation, with a small footprint, and fully equipped with pretreatment and post-treatment stages to meet WHO drinking water standards. Logistics, rapid production, and installation coordination across multiple remote locations were critical factors in the project’s success.

4- Impact & Environmental Effect

The project resulted in:

  • Reliable access to safe drinking water for health centers across Libya’s coastal regions

  • Reduced dependency on bottled water or trucked supply

  • Faster public health response, especially in underserved areas

  • A scalable, modular solution that can be replicated in other regions

  • Minimal installation time and civil work due to containerized design

5- Performance

All five systems are currently operating with stable output and high recovery rates, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality water for drinking and healthcare use. The automated control systems have simplified operation for local staff, and AQUALINE continues to provide technical support and performance optimization as needed.
