High-Performance RO System for Power Plant Water Treatment

Project Overview

  • Type: Water Treatment System

  • Source: Well Water

  • Application: Process Water for Power Plant

  • Capacity: 1,296 CMD

  • Scope of Work: Design, Manufacture, Supply

  • Location: Iraq

  • Sector: Private - Power Plant

  • Project Status: Finished

1- Project Details

AQUALINE Water Technology delivered a Reverse Osmosis system with a capacity of 1,296 cubic meters per day (CMD) to a power plant in Iraq, designed to upgrade the facility’s water treatment capabilities. The existing treatment system on-site had become outdated and could no longer meet the required water quality standards for power generation processes.

2- Customer Need

The plant required a solution that could enhance the water quality produced by the existing system without disrupting ongoing operations. Since the original station couldn’t meet the increasingly strict water quality demands for power generation, the client needed a robust, high-efficiency RO system to act as a polishing treatment stage. The solution had to be compact, reliable, and capable of handling well water with variable characteristics.

3- Challenge

The challenge was to integrate the new RO system with the existing infrastructure and treat water that was incompletely processed by the previous station. The design needed to ensure:

  • Consistent high-purity output

  • Compatibility with fluctuating inlet quality

  • Minimal impact on plant operations during installation and commissioning

The system also had to meet strict quality thresholds to protect sensitive power plant equipment from scaling, corrosion, and fouling.

4- Aqualine Solution

AQUALINE provided a custom-engineered RO system designed to handle partially treated well water from the existing plant. The solution included:

  • Pre-polishing filtration to condition water from the old system

  • High-rejection RO membranes for advanced desalination

  • Post-treatment (if needed) for pH balancing and final polishing

  • Fully automated operation with monitoring and safety controls

The system was built to maximize recovery, reduce operational costs, and ensure long-term performance

5- Impact & Environmental Effect

The upgraded RO system has enabled the power plant to:

  • Meet critical water quality requirements for safe and efficient energy generation

  • Reduce maintenance and operational disruptions caused by substandard water

  • Extend the lifespan of critical infrastructure such as boilers and turbines

  • Benefit from reliable, consistent performance in a demanding industrial environment

6- Performance

Since commissioning, the system has delivered stable and high-purity water output, helping the plant achieve operational efficiency targets. AQUALINE continues to provide technical support and performance monitoring, ensuring the system maintains peak performance with minimal downtime.
